CDL Truck Driver Training

Attending an approved certified CDL truck driver training program is not required to get a commercial driver’s license (CDL). It is not even required to get a truck driving job but it does have it’s advantages. One of the biggest reasons is that being trained by certified CDL instructors means you are being taught by the best. Certified instructor must go through rigorous training and state and federal mandated exams in order to become certified. Trucking companies prefer to hire new drivers that have attended a certified truck driver training program because they know that the training program is officially confirmed as to complying or meeting certain specified requirements or standards recognized as one of the industries leading certification programs.

Although you can obtain your commercial driver’s license (CDL) without attending a certified truck drivers training program, most trucking companies are required by their insurance carrier to hire only students that have attended a certified CDL truck driver training program for liability reason. If a driver is involved in an accident, the victim(s) could possibly argue, in court, that the driver was not properly trained or had not attended a certified training program. When you are looking at CDL training programs, check their credentials, see if they are members of any industry related professional organizations such as PTDI ( Professional Truck Drivers Institute). We are in no way affiliated with PTDI, but they are well respected throughout the industry, an advocate for truck driver training standards, driver professionalism and safety.

So as you can see it is very important to attend a certified truck driver training program in order to ensure that you are properly trained and it also increase your chances of being hired by a trucking company. Good luck on your new career as a professional truck driver.
